"The future of Ajax Downs and quarter horse racing will be an election issue in Durham Region and the counties surrounding it where quarter horse racing has a considerable economic impact. We are grateful that Rod Philips and the Ontario PCs are prepared to protect Ajax Downs as a home for quarter horse racing well into the future and we will support their efforts to do so."

Ontario PC Candidate for Ajax, Rod Phillips, received an endorsement from the Labourers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) for the upcoming June provincial election.

"I've known Rod Phillips for many years, and I can confidently say that he's the right person for the job in Ajax. Rod supports the honest, hard-work of our members across Durham Region and Ontario. He understands the priorities of the Labour movement and how to work with the public and private sector to create and protect good-paying jobs", said LiUNA vice-president Joseph Mancinelli

“Rod says what he means and means what he says. I trust him. Also, the Ontario PC commitment to supporting middle-class families and focusing on job creation is in line with LiUNA’s priorities. These are commitments that are important to us."

LiUNA represents workers in building construction, heavy construction and highway construction as well as manufacturing, commerce and health care.

"I'm voting for Rod because he knows what it takes to keep a business going. He's got a strong business background and has actually had to make payroll and take care of employees. Rod's a good guy. He's honest, trustworthy and he listens. We need Rod and the PC Party in Government so that hydro prices come down and red tape for small business is eliminated."
