Ajax Waterfront

Published on May 25, 2018

Algae on Ajax’s waterfront has been a problem for many years. In fact, in the last (2014) election, Joe Dickson promised to take action, and signed a pledge that said the Liberal Government would require the Regions of Durham and York to undertake a full Environmental Assessment of the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant and implement the best method of stopping the release of phosphorus that feeds algae growth along the Ajax Waterfront by 2017.

It’s 2018 and we still haven’t seen any action.

I’ve met with members of PactPow a few times over the last few months to learn more about the the source of phosphorus that feeds the algae. I will continue to work with PactPow and members of Town, Regional and Provincial government to find solutions to this problem.
